Self-Care for Professionals Working with Trauma 101

Day 1: “Intentionality: Mindfully Choosing What Works for You and Your Setting”
This workshop is based on a model of Mindful Presence, which integrates self-care of the Responder/Practitioner as an active, intentional, and integrated part of trauma-informed treatment. Using reflective and experiential exercises, participants will explore their current self-care practices, the support and limitations of their work settings, and the relationship between self-awareness and vicarious trauma prevention. Participants will be introduced to the concept of counter-transference as a natural part of trauma work and a constructive tool for self-care and ethical client care. Easy-to-use mindfulness skills will be taught and practiced.
(The content of this workshop requires that participants have basic knowledge or experience in trauma-informed treatment.)
